Care House Shutokan

Care House Shutokan

This nursing home is located at the foot of a mountain in a basin. The client's strong desire to move from welfare that is given to welfare that can be chosen, and to individualize care facilities, led to the planning of this project.

The building has four floors, with a simple layout, with the management and service department on the first floor and the central corridor-style living areas on the second floor and above. The central living area on the third and fourth floors has an open atrium, with large sloping lattice windows that let in light and allow people to feel the outside scenery and changes in the weather while inside the building.
The gabled roof is covered with Japanese roof tiles and is surrounded on all sides by a concrete latticework. This latticework tightens the proportions of the building and not only connects the large volume with the surrounding landscape, the tiled roof, and each part of the standardized building, but also functions to divide each room.
